About Dr Martos
Dr Martos (FESC MRCP MD MBBS) is currently working as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Queen’s Hospital NHS Trust (Burton-on-Trent) and is also Honorary Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the University Hospitals of Glenfield NHS Trust (Leicester) and at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust (Stoke-On-Trent).
Dr Martos has been proudly based at the Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since August 2014 which is involved in the exciting initiation of the cardiac coronary angioplasty service at Queen’s Hospital. which will improve the prognosis and treatment for all our patients with cardiac pathologies.
Qualifications and Awards
Having graduated with honours degree from the University College of Seville, Spain, he obtained his MRCP at the Royal college of Physicians in Dublin, Ireland and then undertook a Specialist training programme in Cardiology obtaining a certificate of CCST in Cardiology.
Furthermore, he conducted clinical research in the area of Diastolic Heart Failure (in particular, Interstitial Cardiac Fibrosis) at the University College of Dublin and the Conway Institute obtaining the diploma of MD in Cardiology. This ground breaking research allowed him to win the Irish Journal Medical Science award for the best Cardiology publication in Ireland and publish widely in high impact international and national journals (Circulation and European Journal of Heart Failure).
Dr Martos moved to the UK where he was fortunate to be awarded an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust in London spending two years advancing his interventional cardiology skills. Additionally, he worked as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Conquest University Hospital in Hastings and Torrejon University Hospital in Madrid, gaining excellent experience in more complex coronary and structural intervention.
